Home visits
To request a visit at home by the Practice please ring 01909 770213 before 11:30am (or any time for a medical emergency).
Home visits are intended for patients who are unable to get to the surgery due to a medical condition – if you leave the home at other times, such as shopping trips, visiting the bank, dentist or hairdresser then we would normally expect you to attend the surgery.
Sadly, the NHS cannot afford to offer home visits because of a lack of transport. In the time taken to carry out one home visit a doctor can see two or three patients at the surgery. In addition there are good medical reasons why the surgery is a better place to see people – we have more equipment for diagnosis, couches for examinations and nurses to assist us. If someone is unwell we can usually see them earlier in the day at the surgery, since visiting doesn't begin until after morning surgery (except in an emergency).
Our receptionists will take a few details if a patient feels they might need a home visit, and one of the doctors may ring after morning surgery to see if a visit is indeed required. They may give advice, request that you attend the surgery, or visit if appropriate.
To aid us in this we ask that all requests for visits be made BEFORE 11.30am; requests after this time will only be visited that day if they are emergencies.
For 24 hour advice telephone 111
Training Practice
We are a Training Practice for qualified doctors intending to become General Practitioners. A General Practice Associate in Training is usually here to gain experience of general practice. They may be sitting in with the doctor, nurse or other members of our team here during your consultation: you will be informed if this is the case. As their training progresses they will hold their own surgeries under the supervision of their trainer, Dr Rejia Ullah, Dr Wasim Kazi or Dr Sarah Yacomeni. If you have any objection to this please let us know. On occasion surgeries will be recorded for training purposes but only with the signed consent of the patients involved at the time. To help maintain the high standards expected in this training work the practice will be inspected by other doctors from time to time. This inspection will include looking at some medical records. If you do not wish your records to be used for this purpose please let reception know.
A similar scheme allows hospital doctors (who may or may not go on to become General Practitioners) experience in family medicine – this is called the Foundation Year 2 rotation. Dr Andy Grafton and Dr Gillian Turner is the tutor for the F2 scheme and we usually have a new F2 Trainee every 4 months.
We also have medical students every 7 weeks at the practice under the supervision of Dr David Donkin and Dr Jonathan Evans.
